![]() ![]() School counselors are authorized to provide education counseling services in grades kindergarten through fourteen. If you intend to pursue licensure in a state other than New York, you should consult our Licensure page for more information on whether our program meets the academic requirements for licensure in that state and whether there is additional course work you may need to complete to meet that state’s requirements. Educational Counseling Provides resources, funds, strategies, and training in educational counseling to support schools in planning, implementing, and monitoring comprehensive student support programs. Each state sets their own policies, regulations, and standards for licensure. A school guidance counselor is a highly trained individual who helps with academic issues, career questions, college prep, and personal or social issues of kids from kindergarten to 12th grade. ![]() Graduates of this program meet the academic requirements for licensure in the state of New York. ![]() This program is accredited by the Master’s in Psychology and Counseling Accreditation Council (MPCAC) for 2015 through 2025. If you choose the bilingual concentration, you will also be prepared to identify issues relevant to student populations for whom English is a second language, and apply appropriate resolutions. Graduates of this degree are eligible for New York State certification as guidance counselors. School counselors play an integral part in the Australian schooling system they provide support to teachers, parents, and students. Earning a masters degree in school counseling is perhaps the most straightforward path to becoming a guidance counselor.
